Okay, so I think I have figured this message board out. I had my surgery Fri., June 1. I was nervous and excited the day of the surgery. Everything went well, and I was able to go home the same day. Thanks, Dr. B. Saturday, I was so sore. I suggest that everyone fill the prescription. It's a life-saver! Sunday was a little better than Saturday, and Monday was better than Sunday. I tried to drive Monday, but didn't make it out of the driveway-- still woozy. Today is Tuesday, I'm off of the prescription and back at work! Luckily, I don't have a strenuous job so I can take it easy here at the office. Still a little sore. I've lost 6 pounds on the liquid diet. The worst part about being at home is all of the food commercials on tv! PIZZA COMMERCIALS are the worst! Thanks to DVR I can "fast-forward" through those. But, it's got me wondering..... Will I ever be able to eat pizza again?

I can eat pizza. Just not as much...
Dont think about the pizza right now...just focus on losing the weight...cuz you will be able to eat pizza sooner than you think, and then you will be like me and wish there was something you COULDNT eat. I agree Teresa, the words are super small on the board! Im sure they are still in the process of fixing it though!

You can eat pizza later on...just have patience. But then when you do have pizza you can only eat a half a slice compared to half the pizza or the whole damn thing if it is a philly cheese steak pizza!!! Hhahahahaha As they all say, this surgery is a tool....A tool to help you maintain portions and diet changes...It does work if you use it properly......This new message board is hard to figure out, but hopefully it will get easier to use....Judy Hill, how are you after your surgery??? Take care to all......Michelle Gaylord -170 pounds in 11 months

Good Morning! I had pizza one time. I could only eat 4 bites. It does not taste the same anymore. It seems like nothing taste the same as my mind thinks it does. Most of the time I eat because I know I have to. I hope everyones finds there way to this new site. I'm 2 months out. Starting weight 226 and now 183. I feel sooooo great. I miss seeing ya'lls beautiful pictures too. RNY 4/5/07

I agree about the size of the print. My neck starts hurting from having to look through the bi-focals -- and it's still too hard to see. Even though I'm new, I miss the old board.

This is the first time I've been on since the new website and message board changed. I didn't have a fill the last time I went in May because I was sick with this crud and doing pretty good. The weight is coming off slow. But I can tell I need one now! Will go back July 20. Good luck everyone!

I wish I could help you but I had a RNY and I used Medicare so I don't know anything about the Ins. Just keep up what you are doing and hopefully it will be approved soon.

Is there still a list as to when the meetings are? I'm new here and won't get to meet Dr. B until July, but am thinking I might want to come to at least one meeting before meeting him to find out as much information as I can prior to that meeting.

Hello all, well I found the site and I'm not impressed. I miss seeing the pictures next to your post so you can put a face with each person. The color and size of the font is pretty wack too. Thankfully that is an easy fix for the Website designer. This site just doesn't seem real warm and welcoming. It's funny what you ask for, because just a couple of months ago we wanted something new and now look at what we got. It was great seeing everyone at the meeting last night. Everyone is getting so small and it's wonderful to see that everyone is healthy and happy. Hope you all have a great week.

Hey everyone, I finally figured out the new site. Its not as appealing as the old one. I am a little over 2 weeks post op and have lost 24 pounds. WOW! I weighed at my moms as I dont own any scales and got on and off of them 10 times. I cried. My surgery went wonderfully well. I did however have to be put back in the hospital a week after surgery. I was having alot of pain and Dr. B's PA asked me to come the ER. They admitted me. My potassium was really low and I think I was a little dehydrated. Working really hard not to let that happen again but I am finding it hard to drink alot. Does anyone else have this problem? I almost cannot tolerate water at all. I have been drinking alot of Propel. I can swallow this pretty good. Tea I can do as well. Any other suggestions? This is a really "different" but wonderful experience. I have a hard time getting used to not eating. I miss the chewing and crunching but I know this is just around the corner. I am working on soft foods and am delighted. Broth and jello is getting very old. I also miss seeing the photos of everyone. I am glad to see the few posting. I hope everyone can find the new site to keep in touch. I have been posting on the obesity help website. I have met several people there also who have been wonderful. Can someone also tell me when the meetings are in Tyler? I really would like to come. I cant wait to meet everyone! Hope to see you soon! Thanks to everyone asking about me!

I don't like this message board at all. I miss all the pictures and profiles too. Even though I never had one. Judy glad you are doing OK. I had trouble drinking water and still do. I could drink 2% milk with protein powder and Crystal lite well. You can have peanut butter on a saltine now and I really enjoyed it. I think at 3wks you can also have fat free refried beans. That was really good. Congrats on your weight loss. I'm probably not eating enough. It hurts still when I eat. I'm having trouble getting down Chicken and fish. I can eat hamburger meat OK. I'm glad you found this site. I have been wondering how you were. There was another girl who was having her surgery yesterday. Hope she finds her way too. Take care everyone and I hope they improve this site. I beleive they said the meetings were the 3rd Monday of each month at ETMC. I wish I could go but I live in Jefferson. I hope one day I will be able to go and meet everyone.

Okay, I found my way here; no comment on how I think this message board looks, though. I hope the webmaster will get on here and actually make it readable and user-friendly. Please! We need pictures and a readable font. ASAP.

I was glad to see you guys who made it at the meeting last night. To those of you who were asking, it is definitely always on the third Monday night of the month at 7pm in the ETMC cafeteria's meeting room. It is easy to find once you get yourself into the cafeteria. You'll see us. Come next month, all of you! :)

Hope you all have a good day, and hang in there, those of you who are still waiting. It is worth the wait, hard as it is to be patient. God bless you guys!

Hey everyone! I had my 2 week post-op visit yesterday. I've lost 14 pounds. That was encouraging. I was looking forward to a fill, but they told me that they usually don't do fills at the 2 week mark. Unlike some of the others, I haven't been having a hard time eating. Of course, I'm not eating like I used to, but I still feel like I'm eating more than I should. Should I be concerned? I was hoping for a fill to make me feel fuller, faster. My next visit isn't until 4 weeks from now. I've been exercising, and I have to say that it has been enjoyable. Good luck to everyone.

hi everyone! im trying to get the lap band and am still waiting for the ins company to approve it. i hired an attorney to 'represent" me and help with the appeal process and i hope to hear something soon. i'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, but i know that my insurance does cover it-they just wanted more documentation. i sent them alot more medical records and a letter from my doctor
and the letter from the attorney should do the trick. i just read the post from calv who lost 14 lbs in two weeks, that sounds so wonderful-i hope to join you all soon.

Hello everyone. Congrats Calv on your weight loss. That is fantastic. I had the rny on 06/01/07. It is a different lifestyle but one I am happy to be living. Thanks for the info Teresa. Hi to you Michelle. It has been crazy!! I tried to eat chicken Monday and it was good. I think I over did it because I hurt yesterday like crazy. I guess I just wanted to chew something and tired of peanut butter and broth. I think I eat it too fast. I have been doing liquids today to settle my tummy. I also went back to work Monday. I am a little sore from sitting upright all day at my desk but I was going crazy staying at home. I am glad to hear everyone is doing well. To those trying to get approved, dont give up. It took me forever but it finally happened! Have a fantastic day:)

Good morning everyone! I have lost another 3 pounds. I cant believe it. It has been great and I have been feeling wonderful. I did have an unpleasant experience yesterday. My friend Reba and I went out for lunch. I ordered soup of course. It is a place we have eaten many times before my surgery. When we were paying, I mentioned to the owner I had just had this wonderful surgery and I wouldnt not be coming in and "pigging out" like I had done in the past. I didnt want him to think I was sharing a plate with my friend trying to split the bill for a "cheap" lunch. Boy, did I open a can of worms. He let me know how unfair it was for people who have this surgery to ask for discounts, which I did NOT, that he was going to run his business the way he wanted unless the doctors wanted to send him some money! Also, he asked the customers in line behind me what their opinion was on the subject. I was so humiliated and left there with my tail between my legs. I never expected to be treated this way. I guess I should toughen up a little as this will probably not be the first time this happens. I guess if I had asked for a discount this could have been expected, but I didnt. Has anyone had any experiences like this happen to them? I really hope I have a better dining out experience next time. I am almost afraid to mention I have had the surgery. Any advise from anyone?

I work in Athens and was eating at Dos Amigos. I actually live between Athens and Palestine. I am almost afraid to go somewhere and eat. How did each of you approach the wait staff when you did go out? What did you say? Did you order a kids meal or regular meal or share with your spouse or what? I am still so shocked by what happened. I never dreamed that would have happened.

Judy that is terrible. Sounds like the Man has an attitude problem. I have not went out to eat yet. I figured when I did I would order a bowel of beans and get some off my Husbands plate. I don't think I would go back there. He must not appreciate his customers. Jeff it is hard for me to get blood work. My PCP says I don't know what he would want. I go back to Dr. B in August and I guess I will find out what to do.

Judy, that is terrible for that to happen to you. I can imagine that was an awful experience and I would have to call someone back at that restaurant and report that behavior. As a business man he should know that the customer is always right....I hope that does not happen to you again. Glad to hear that things are going well for you otherwise.....Hello to all....Cathy....Valerie....Good luck to everyone trying to have surgery or just starting on your journey. It is so much worth the effort. I am 2 weeks away from my anniversary date and am minus 170 pounds. I never imagined it would be this good!!!!!! Take care and God bless....Michelle

hi everyone..... regarding dining out and what to say to the waitstaff-- i heard there is a card you can get to show the waitstaff that states you have had a surgical procedure that severely limits the amount of food you can eat, and most places permit you to pay for a childs portion. i have not had my lap band yet but i plan on looking into getting one of these cards as it would be a discreet way to
explain our menu choices. i believe that any resonable establishment would respect our privacy and limitations in this very personal matter. THANK YOU SO MUCH to all who have encouraged those of us waiting for insurance approval. IT MEANS SOOOO MUCH!
i hope all are doing well and cannot wait to join those whose have lost weight and look and feel better. i have faith that i will :)

I understand completely about the food thing. Me and a friend was in Tyler eating at Papicitas on Broadway and the manager and the workers were rude and i will never go back there. The waitress told us she would have to charge me 1.50 for a set up fee because i chose to share my plate. It is my plate and if i want to share it i can. I did not ask for the chips she put on the table. I will NEVER go back there. We were treated ugly and Debbie called the manager and he was a jerk also. I order alacart if i go somewhere usually. Most places will not let you get a kids meal. I have since learned some do, depending on the person and the mood of the day. I have been told no at some places that others got the kids meal. It depends on the mood of the day. I will not go eat buffets anymore. I am not paying 9.99 for the little we eat. The China King on Broadway in the French Quarter and the Kens there also take the cards. No questions asked. On the ticket at the chinese place they put Yellow card.
I guess enough of us have been there that they know.
thanks

Hello everyone. Hope you had a fantastic weekend! I have not been eating much and I am worried I am losing too fast. I go back for my 6 week checkup on 07/17/07. I try to eat but I am not very hungry. I have advanced to trying different foods to see if something strikes up a slight appetite. Nothing! I guess this is good but my husband is also worried I dont eat much. I have been trying to drink more. I find it is a little difficult getting adapted to this new lifestyle. Does anyone have any comments on this? Thanks.

Hello! Judy it has been hard for me still. I beleive you can eat as much as a cat and stay alive. At lunch and dinner I just eat a couple of tablespoons of food. I take my vitamins. When I chew my food I don't like it very much. Alot of times I eat because I know I have too. I eat out of a saucer since surgery. I remember how good some food used to taste but when I try to eat it, it don't taste the same. I'm hoping it will change later. Some foods I still have trouble eating. Your weight loss will probably slow down a bit. The first month was the most for me and now it is a couple of pounds a week.

Hi Teresa. Thank you for the info. It is hard to eat and you are right about nothing tasting the same. I have to make myself eat too. This is a crazy question but do you go the bathroom alot? I dont and I am little concerned. When I first had the surgery, everything was going right through me and now that is not happening. I thought about calling Dr. B's office. Is this normal? Also, how did your first checkup go after your surgery? I go in a few couple of weeks. I really appreciate your responses and look forward to many more!

After surgery everything went right through me too. It was many colors. Alot of acid and bile. Then I was the same as you. I went just alittle every couple of days. I ask Dr. B. office and they said it was normal because we are not eating as much. I'm almost 3 months now and I had to go back on Aciphex for the acid and bile. My PCP did that. I was burning in my intestines and my poop was green like bile. Since I have been on the medicine it is better. I had alot of stomach problems before surgery. Most of them are gone now. I have never since surgery seen Dr. B. My 6wk. check up was done by Freda. I go for my 4 month on August the 8th. I worry about all of my Vitamin and Mineral levels. No one checks them. Alot of times I have no energy or there is just not a want to. I don't know what my PCP should do and she don't either. Does anyone else have this problem getting there blood checked?

I need a little advise. I just had to have my gall bladder out and now I'm wavering about getting the bypass surgery. It's because of the pain. I understand that there is pain with any surgery, but sheesh, this was horrible. I really need to have this surgery, but now I'm a little afraid of it. My first appointment with Dr. B is toward the end of July. Should I keep this appointment or wait until I'm certain that I can deal with the surgery?

Debra, sorry you are in so much pain. If you cancel your appointment it will take you awhile to get another one. The pain that you feel will probably be the same as the surgery you have. After you heal the pain want seem so bad anymore. If you think about it and you heal from the pain you are having and you still have doubt by all means don't do it. You could still go for your first appointment and give yourself some time before you actually have the surgery. Just get the first consultation out of the way and you can take some time before you actually have the surgery. Hope you heal fast.

I have a wonderful relationship with my Gynecologist and his staff. I have already called them for an appointment to get my bloodwork done. He is the one who helped me do what the insurance required for approval. Can you PCP call Dr B's office and speak to someone to see what they need to do for you? I am sure someone can help. Debra, there is some pain but it wasnt bad for me. I had my gallbladder out about 3 years ago. You just need to think positive. The pain will go away and you'll be a little sore. But it will be worth it! I was up and walking the day of my surgery. I only had to have 5 incisions and didnt have any drainage tubes. I think you should still keep your doctor visit and express your concerns to Dr. B. It will all work out ok. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

Teresa, make sure when you have bloodwork done they are checking your iron levels. Im over 3 years post op and my iron is extremely low and my doctor is in the process of getting me a referral to a hematologist to get the IV therapy. My body doesnt even absorb pills. Right before my wedding, my ferritin was a 2. We didnt find that out til we got back from the honeymoon...but then we knew why I slept the whole time! lol. Since then, its come up to a 4, but thats still not enough- so just make sure you are watching your iron because that seems to be the thing that people have the most trouble with! And trust me, when your iron is low you feel like crap all the time and would rather stay in bed than do anything!!! So try to get it back up! I cant wait to feel normal again!

Thanks Judy and Valerie. That may be why most of the time I don't want to do anything. I have headaches and when I try to do something physical my heart starts fluttering. I had an MRI for the brain last week and I had to wear a 48 hour monitor and mow the yard the last day to have a recording of it. I don't go back to my PCP until July 25th. They are not real good about calling if anything is wrong. I may call them next week to see if the results are back. I had some blood work a month after surgery and it was OK. My PCP did not know if he wanted any other blood work or not. I will talk to my PCP when I go back.

We are still working on this message board. Sorry for all the inconvenience. There should be a new message board in about two weeks is what we are told. But in the meantime the website people are also working to change the size of type and color so everything will be easier to read. Thanks again.

I went to my doctor today for bloodwork. They couldnt draw any because I am dehydrated. I have been trying to drink but I cant seem to get alot down. I dont get sick or anything I just feel full. I have been so tired for about a week now. I dont have any energy what so ever. I have to go back to the doctor Thursday to see if I am more hydrated. If not, I guess I will have to call Dr. B's office. Has anyone else had problems trying to get your liquids for the day? Thanks.

Judy, I had alot of trouble with water. If it was crystal lite it went down better or something besides just plain water. After awhile it will get better. Keep something with you and keep sipping on it. I hope it gets better. I'm 3 months out and can get down 60 oz. of liquid now. It seems like it goes right through me and at night I wake up with a dry mouth.

Hi everyone. I had to be put back in the hospital. Seems I had a stricture and had to have the scope to open up my pouch. Dr. said it was closed all the way which I guess is good. Got to go home Friday night after 2 days. I was dehyrdrated also. I have not feel really good since coming home. I hope I get to feeling better soon. I never expected this to happen to me but I guess it can happen to anyone. Friday will be 6 weeks since my surgery. It has definitly been a journey. I have been researching this for over 2 years before having the surgery and you never really know how it is until you experience it yourself. You can talk to lots of people but like I said, you dont know until it happens to you. Congrats to everyone for their weight loss. I hope to hear from you soon to see how youre doing!

Judy, I hope you get to feeling better. I worried about having a stricture. Now that they dilated you I don't think it will happen again. I hope things get better. I don't think it happens very often but luckly it is easily fixed. Take care!

Hello,
I’m a new comer, just got my approval for surgery this week and have scheduled it for August 10th. I have spent the last six months jumping through hoops for the insurance company to approve me. I’m so excited!! I’m having a lap band. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks

Hello New Comer. I could not make out your name. Congrats on having your surgery approved and having a surgery date. I did not have lap band so I can't offer any advice on that. I'm sure as it gets closer to surgery you will be more excited and will be nervous. This will be natural. I wish you all the luck in the world with your surgery and recovery and I will be praying for you. I beleive that next Monday the 16th is the Support group meeting there in Tyler at ETMC. I think it is the 3rd Monday of the month. I live in Jefferson so it is to far for me to go. If you are able it would be great to go because I'm sure you could learn alot and meet alot of great and friendly people. Welcome aboard !

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I've been on the board. I'm glad to see that they are going to work at making it more readable & user friendly.

On June 20, I fell (just mis-steped and took a tumble) and broke my hip. I had surgery the next day and spent a week in the hospital -then went straight to the rehab hospital for another 2 weeks. I got home last Tuesday. Now, I'm going to outpatient therapy 3 times a week. I'm progressing slowly but surely. I'm hobbling along on a walker. The good news is that I'm continuing to lose weight. In fact, I lost about12-15 pounds during my 3 weeks in the hospital.

I am a little concerned that my WLS may have had something to do with my hip breaking so easily. I hope not. I do take my Calcium citrate faithfully.

Debbie A --- in reading the posts - I was wondering what you eat at China King and Ken's....and what do they give you for the "yellow card"? Do you get charged for a kids meal?

I hope to make the next support group ---I'm 10 months out and have lost 120 pounds.
It's been an amazing year. I'm still so thankful to all of you who have been such a loyal support.

Hello everyone! Went for my 6 week post op check up. I have lost 30.2 pounds. Yea! I have had some trouble since my surgery but this past week has been wonderful. I feel so good! I can actually eat and drink and not get sick since they stretched my pouch. I guess that is what was making me so sick. I have noticed people are seeing my weight loss and commenting about it. It is such a wonderful feeling. I cant wait to see what the outcome will be. It is such a boost to read all the success stories on this site and the OH website. I hope everyone is doing well. I missed Monday's meeting and cant wait till next month. My plan is to be there. It takes me almost an hour from my home so its kinda hard to get there. Congrats on your success Julie! Take care everyone!

Yes, Teresa - I'm still going to bariatriceating.com I LOVE their message boards (especially the recipes). I also order lots of their products (most protein supplements and vitamins, calcium, etc.) Gail from this site is the one who recommended it to me - I wonder if she still reads the boards - If so, let us hear from you! Has anyone found Calcium Citrate (which is the better calcium for us) in those yummy chews (like chocolate or caramel)?

I am excited that they are going to be working on this message board -hope it's soon!

Ok.....I'm one week out and have to make myself eat anything. I enjoy ice chips but that's about all I can take. I guess it's doing me good because I've lost 26 lbs in the first week. Dr. B's office has been great but I have to admit the care I received in the hospital was less than desirable. Is it just me or did anyone else have poor care?

Hi Everyone!! I see they still haven't done anything with this board. What's the deal? I know it would take two seconds to make this much more enjoyable for us. I need to hack the site and see what I can do. ;-) Anyways. Jason - I didn't have a good experience with my hospital stay at all. It was truly unbelievable how things went while I was there. I was at ETMC also. Thankfully I was so excited about the surgery and losing weight that I just pretty much forgot about it and moved on. I probably should have filed a complaint but I doubt anything would have came from it. Cat - Can't wait to see you on Big Medicine!!! How exciting. I will make sure to set it to record tonight so I don't forget. Glad that you are doing so well. I hope everyone is having a great summer. Enjoy it!!!

Hello everyone! I love watching Big Medicine and looking forward to seeing you on tv! I have started to retain fluid. Does anyone else have this problem? I called Lindsay at Dr B's office. I am going to my dr for bloodwork Monday morning. I am not sure what I am doing wrong if anything. I have been feeling really good this past week or so. I dont eat alot but I feel full all the time. I know this is how it works but I guess being so sick right after my surgery I wasnt sure what to expect. It is almost Friday! Yea! I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday and a great weekend!

Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing so great! Cathy, I can't wait to see you on the show Monday night, and to see you in person, hopefully, at the next meeting. I guess that'll be August 20, if I'm remembering correctly. ~ Jason, I had my surgery last year at ETMC and my care was great. I think most of the time with any hospital it's the luck of the draw as to whether you have great nurses on duty when you're there or careless ones. I'm sorry you, Kyli and others have had bad experiences. Still worth it, as Kyli said, but it would have made your life easier those few days, right? ~ Y'all enjoy your weekend! Love, Steph rny 7-26-06

I guess that’ll be August 20, if I’m remembering correctly. ~ Jason, I had my surgery last year at ETMC and my care was great. I think most of the time with any hospital it’s the luck of the draw as to whether you have great nurses on duty when you’re there or careless ones. I’m sorry you, Kyli and others have had bad experiences. Still worth it, as Kyli said, but it would have made your life easier those few days, right? ~ Y’all enjoy your weekend! Love, Steph rny 7-26-06

Hi all,
Thanks for the support on the show! I will be seeing everything as you all will. Kinda nervous about it LOL! The promo last week said something about me wanting to keep my femininity, I looked at Mark an said what, LOL I never said that I guess they are coming up with that because I was worried about having a butt (to funny) My daughter in law could not believe the amount of loose skin they showed on the promo as she had never seen me without cloths. Goes to show how much our cloths can cover. Anyway I will be at the next meeting Steph. Hope all of you are doing great.
Hugs!
Cat
P.S. Hope yall are nice to me with the reviews LOL

Cat, I wish I could see on the program. I don't have sattelite. I'm so proud for you. I know you have been through so much. I'm sure you look fantastic. It is a dream come true I'm sure.
I also thought of calling and complaining about ETMC but I just let it go too. I was in there over the Easter Holidays and I figured they probably did not want to be there. It is all history now.
Judy, I have never had a problem retaining fluid. So far it stay's off. I used to before surgery but not anymore. I would tell the Doctor though.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Take care!

Hi Teresa,
Thank you for thinking of me! It has been quit an experince from day one. I feel great an thank god each day for the blessings he has given me in my life. Now if I could just get this knee to work again all would be perfect. As to ETMC I myself had my husband an mother with me an they made sure things ran smooth. Any question after the show feel free to ask away.
Big Hugs to everyone!!

Yay, the font is big enough to read now! I'm so glad. Thanks, Brian/webmaster! :) We appreciate it! ~ I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy today. Cathy, I'm glad you'll be at the next meeting. We've been missing you! Can't wait to see you on the show tonight! ~ I learned a lesson about carbs recently: they send me, quickly after eating them, into a low blood sugar level and I start trembling like crazy until I eat some protein. I had some cream of wheat one morning recently and it had burned off in about two hours and then I was about to fall over in a heap before I could get some tuna salad made, seriously! So just a word of warning, eat protein with your carbs, and not much carbs. Oh, and I'm not and never have been diabetic, so it wasn't that.~ Hey, will you guys please pray for my Aunt Ginny Wednesday? She's having her surgery right after lunch, at 1:00. She's having the gastric bypass, and is excited but nervous, of course. We would appreciate it! We'll be at ETMC if anyone is around that day. :) ~ love you guys, Steph rny 7-26-06

You looked great Cathy! Walking on the beach in a swimsuit and looking so good has to be a great feeling. Hope everyone is well. Tomorrow will be 2 months since my surgery. Wow, time has really went by faster than I expected. I still have trouble eating some things but doing ok. It is hard to get used to not eating alot or to make myself eat slow. What are some of the protein supplements some of you are using? I heard something about a protein bullet? Anyone heard of this? I need more protein but have not been able to tolerate the protein drinks. Any ideas? Have a fantastic week!

Hi Judy,
I got them online at bariatriceating.com. I don't know what the price was but they were on a special. They are not cheap but I like to have them around for emergency type situation if we are out an I need the protein quick like. Other than that I get the plain Whey Tasteless Protein an put it in my oatmeal an yogurt. It last a long time to. Hope this helps you.

Thank you. My mom had WLS almost 5 years ago and has lost about 220 pds. Her insurance will pay for her to have plastic surgery. Did you file your PS with your insurance? She is having a hard time finding a dr to file on her insurance. Do you have the number and a contact person she can call? Thanks again.

Hello everyone ! The last couple of day's I have been mad and angry. I go to a local newspaper forum and after I had my Gastic Bypass I posted a Topic telling about it because I thought that it might help someone else. Well someone decided they would blast me because they said I was lazy for not loosing the weight on my on and since I had Medicare that I was the downfall of the Healthcare system. They said that others needed medicine and treated for more important things and I wasted taxpayers money by having Gastric Bypass. I told them of my Health problems but to no avail they still had there opinion of me as a lazy overweight person abusing the system. I feel like a new person since the surgery and I'm not going to let it bother me. It was one of the best things I have ever done.

Teresa, sorry that those un-educated people felt like they need to share their opinions with you. But most likely, they just dont have a clue what this surgery really does, and they are either very skinny and dont know the effects of obesity, or they too are obese and just ashamed to admit they need the surgery. Either way- they just make themselves look dumb.
I go on Monday to meet with the Hematologist and see about getting iron infusions. My iron had dropped to a 2 back in February, and I've since quit taking my birth control and that helped and brought it to a 4. But we cant seem to get it up any higher than that. I cant wait to go get this taken care of and actually have energy again. I sleep ALL the time, and still never feel rested. I will update you guys after I find out anything else.

Hey there everybody,
I hope you're enjoying your weekend! I just wanted to post to let you guys who are interested know that Aunt Ginny had her surgery (rny) on Wednesday, did great, and went home on Friday. I spent the day with her today and kept her going on her sipping and whatnot, and she's feeling better. Thanks for the prayers! :) ~ Valerie, I can't believe you're still fighting to get that iron up. What a chore! I hope they get you fixed up with as little discomfort and hassle as possible. How is everything else going? We miss you! :) ~ Y'all have a good Sunday, and I look forward to seeing everyone on the 20th! Love, Steph rny 7-26-06

Hi Teresa; I'm sorry about you incident. I agree with Valerie. Just keep your chin up and keep up the fantastic weight loss! Valerie, I hope you get your iron up. How long have you had a problem with the iron? Did you know by your blood tests? Hope you get to feeling better soon! Congrats to your aunt Steph. That is wonderful news. I hope to meet most of you on the 20th. It will be my first meeting. Can anyone give me a heads up on what to expect at the meeting? How long do the meetings usually last? I am really looking forward to attending. Hope you all have a wonderful Monday! Judy rny 06/01/07

I went to see the specialist today. I LOVE him!! He was so excited about my bariatric surgery and feels for sure that he can help me. My first infusion is next Monday. I cant wait! He says I should feel better almost instantly. I will just get one every 3 months until my iron can stay up on its own. He said he doesnt give it in small doses, he just gives it all at once so I only have to go once and then Im done for 3 months. He said he has about 20-30 post WLS patients doing the same thing right now. He was so supportive of the surgery and Ive never had a doctor be so excited when I told him that I had the surgery. Judy, Ive had blood done regularly since my WLS, and my iron has just steadily been doing down. I cannot tolerate any form of oral iron supplements, so pills werent an option. My ferritin level had reached a 2 back in February right before my wedding, so I had no energy at all. I slept the whole time I was on my honeymoon- and could barely get out of bed!! When we got back we got the results of my bloodwork and then we realized WHY I had been so tired! I cant wait til next week so maybe I will feel like a human again!

The meetings usually last about 1 1/2 hours. We usually just discuss things with Freda leading us. Banders and Gastrics are together.
It is in the room off of the cafeteria. Ask if you cannot find it.

I'm a Newbi, with a scheduled Band surgery date of 09/06/07. I am extremely excited and somewhat anxious, yet know this is all normal. I love seeing all of your comments and advise to each other. What a great team! Have they done away with the pictures on the site? What insentive. Thanks in advance for any advise or suggestions anyone might have. God Bless!
