After Gastric Bypass Surgery and Sleeve Gastrectomy
The details are provided in our handouts and the links below. Briefly, for the first 2 or 3 days, your are on a clear liquid diet (water, broth, Jell-O, popsicles, unsweet tea, etc.). Then, you advance into full liquids (thicker soups without chunks, protein “shakes,” pudding, yogurt, etc.). After 2 weeks, you gradually introduce solid foods that are low in fat and sugar. Every person reacts a little differently to the surgery and has to learn by trial and error sometimes, just how much food, and which types of food they can tolerate.
